So after 24h of traveling and another 24h of sleeping El Nando is back in Porto, momentarely, since Amsterdam will be home for a week, just before going back into the heavy cycle of screenings, meetings and writing at the amazingly glorious San Sebastian Film Festival. Program is out by the way and looking good. Lots of new names on the scene and returns of names such as Maxime giroux (one of my favourite Canadian filmmakers of the moment), the multi-talented Susanne Bier (In a better world), Mia Hansen-Løve (Goodbey first love, winner in Cannes and Locarno),Francois Ozon, Bille August and the always stricking Danis Tanovic (which makes me always nostalgic because he was the first major filmmaker i ever interviewed). Alongside chances to re-watch 2 of my favourite films of the year: Lisandro Alonso´s Jauja, Ceylan´s Winter´s Sleep (the brilliant Palm D´or winner), Slaboshpytskiy´s Tribe (my personal favourite) and mainly the dark and hilarious Wild tales by the Argentine Damien Szifron. And Last but not least, although i will probably miss screenings for these films once again for a myriad of random reasons, despite being always superly eager, Kawase´s Still the water, Alonso Ruizpalacios (With Gueros, one of Berlinale´s most talked abut films i keep missing), Bande des filles (one of Cannes most talked about films) and mainly 20.000 days on earth (the Nick Cave film that eludes me since February despite being in +retty much every single festival). Can´t wait to get to Pintxo land
