So along with making it more expensive to live in this city, the City of Oswego Common Counsel has decided to amend the noise ordinance, effectively making it impossible to offer live music. They have set a 65 decibel limit (50 in some areas). 65 decibels! How loud is that, you ask? Its about as loud as a normal conversation at 3 yards away. Its as loud as laughter! And certainly too loud for a one man acoustic guitar! This ordinance holds true for all entertainment establishments. The Sting, The Raven, Gibbys, Alexs on the Water, The Clubhouse, Spencers Ali, Garys, The Bistro, Old City Hall, G.S. Steamers, Lagrafs, La Parilla, Alley Cats, The Woodchuck...did we miss anyone? With our apologies. This ordinance will pretty much shut down venues for live Music and TAKE THE AVAILABILITY TO LIVE MUSIC AWAY FROM YOU! Its time Oswego. Lets stand together, business owners and patrons, and keep this town vibrant and growing and a destination spot rich with the availability to music, dining and nightlife!
