So...facing the start of the new school year, there are some serious issues to be addressed. Im well aware that these problems wont go away by my mentioning them in one Facebook post, and am also well aware that pretty much nobody on FB will actually give a shit about this, but Id still like to say it, if only for the one kid wholl read this and feel better. Bullying is something that happens. Theres no way that it will ever go away because its human nature to be horrible. Regardless of your age, people can be just...mean. I know this because my mother is 41 years old and she still gets bullied by her superiors at work. To make the issue even more horrible, her students will sometimes clamour in too--some students are in their forties, older than my mother, and they will still do it. She has contacted the teacher union of her school TWICE, and though they have taken measures, the bullying has not dissipated in the four years that shes worked there. Why? Because she hasnt talked to the bully himself. Speaking out about an issue through someone else as a mouthpiece WILL NOT MAKE THE PROBLEM GO AWAY. I cant stress that enough. The bully will not respect you if you do that. They might fear the authority figures that youve brought to the table, but sooner or later that fear will vanish. Though it seems scary to think about actually confronting your bully, its the only thing that will make that person respect you. By having that respect, chances are that they wont bully you again. And if they still end up bothering you after that, then you can feel free to bring in any authority that might be needed and let them deal with it. By that point, its not your issue. However, most bullies are stupid and will stop if you can just tell them to. Approach the issue with tact--state the facts, then your feeling about it, and then a possible solution. My mother, unfortunately, does not have the bravery required yet to deal with her superior, and she will keep on being bullied until she can, which hopefully will be soon. I hope that in the following school year, no matter which school you go to or how old you are, or whether or not youre even in school, you can find the bravery to confront the bully yourself, because thats the only way its going to stop. Know that even though I might not know you too well or at all, you can always talk to me if youre getting bullied. I swear that Ill rally up all the Asians in Ainlay and well kick some ass for you, or whichever school you go it. I dont make this promise lightly--feel free to talk to me. Anyways. Its going to be a great year. Be strong, and do your best, but not too well because I need a scholarship too :)
