So, how does this happen? I used to sell books on bats, and bat houses in my store. I love bats, and have done a lot of reading about them. And Ive been telling people since 1994 that there are 3 common species of Alaska bats - the big brown bat, the little brown bat, and the Yuma myotis. That means I read it in print somewhere, because I didnt just make it up. And now apparently theyve discovered the Yuma myotis in Alaska and everyone is shocked, and is calling it a new species of Alaska bat. Then, how did I know this 20 years ago? Weird.
