So much goes on in life it is rather awesome, especially in regards to my musical endeavors. For the past several months I have been creating lots of different songs in various genres, always looking out for the ones that I deem fitting for Akaitsuki. I remember a few years ago listening to a radiohead B-sides album, thinking Wow, all their B-sides are amazing, how many songs must these guys come up with before they release an album? I looked at my own creative output at the time and felt that I was inadequate. And when I released Purpose of the Moon in 2011 it was in an effort to just put material out there Some of you may have noticed that the initial release was not just an EP but rather a full length 9-song album. Since then if you venture into the bandcamp or the Akaitsuki website you will notice only 5 songs representing Purpose of the Moon it was in my attempt to clean up my release and only present to the public what I felt was Akaitsukis best work. Granted the songs that disappeared are still great in their own right, and I am glad that they can still be found on the internet (But lost all original recordings when my HDD was destroyed) This album however feels to me more like a proper LP and thus I am referring to it as Akaitsukis Debut Album. The songs have been fleshed out for much longer, and so many different recordings have been scrapped in favor of what I feel are better songs, that convey the story and its emotional essence more soundly. A good friend of mine told me that I would never finish this album but he is wrong. This is no Chinese Democracy. In perhaps my most inspired since recording of Purpose of the Moon began I am nearing completion of 2 of what I feel are my favorite songs on the album. I love ditching old songs and writing new ones that I feel are better, it is just so much fun. Also the birth of my daughter occurred on September 12th. So now I am even more inspired than ever before to create something that she can be proud of when she is older. She seems to like Akaitsuki so far. I am thinking about pressing this one in Vinyl and Digital form and scraping CDs all together this time around. I also an fleshing out an artwork book that gives a visual representation to the story, no the Legend of the Akaitsuki. I look forward to releasing this album soon. We shall see. Stay true, Edison
