So the day I have been dreading has come. I had to say goodbye to my longtime companion, my green Honda Civic. She hung in there longer than most of us thought--a tremendous vehicle indeed. Last night she quietly slipped away. I always said that I would keep her going with the help of my personal mechanic until the engine gave out. And that is what happened at 10:51 pm. Death was pronounced by the son of my mechanic in the parking lot of a Church of Christ in Louisville. She will be cremated in Louisville at a scrap metal lot. Arrangements were made by Eddie Yates, personal mechanic. I am blessed that she was not alone in her final moments, surrounded by family (me), friends (the Yates), and a couple youth (she was always happy when church kids were around, except when they puked in her). R.I.P. best car ever, 1998-2014.
