“So there was a division among the people because of Him.” [John 7: 40-44]. The crowd had just heard one of the many wonderful statements Jesus made, “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” [38]. The Lord is a provider of abundance and the Person of God the Holy Spirit is the Enabler/ Comforter who brings that love, joy, peace, etc., into daily service in our lives. Many were convinced that Jesus was the one who was forecast would come in Deuteronomy 18: 15-18 [40]. Others agreed that He was the One sent by God into the world [41]. Some people did not realize that He was indeed descended from King David and was born in Bethlehem [41-42]. The division was so great that some wanted for the second time to arrest Him [30. 44]. The earlier differences of opinion were not resolved. Even His own did not receive Him but those who did are God’s children [John 1: 11-12].
