So this all started the other day while I was trying to figure out how to make 80s and EDM type sounds with ordinary software synths. I was researching how to do it online, and on a forum someone said to make the 80s sounds you take 2 oscillators and detune one of them a little bit higher or lower. So I started watching videos on how to detune. Finally I figured out how the oscillators work with the octave, course, and fine tuning knobs. The octave is easy it just goes up or down an octave, but the course you need to be careful with. If you go to high or too low it sounds out of tune because it goes by notes. But fine, I believe goes by less than that, and the fine knob is how you detune. Of course you can also set one osc 1 octave and the other osc to +1 or -1 octave. It sounds good that way too. And I also wanted to make phat bassey patches, and how I did that was by compression. I dont know much about compression. All I know is that it makes the bass more powerful and when I was researching how to make phat oscillator sounds with fl studio, the article said that compression is how you make phat sounds.
