So yeah, this guy basically started giving me shit in the shout channel because I told him I was focusing on getting PIE as a SCH since I was having to choose between a body piece that replaced my DET for CRI, but it had PIE on it too, so I kept it on instead. I figured, a little more couldnt hurt, heh. This is pretty much when he was like, Youre not focusing it all on CRI? Lol scrub. and began assuming I was a terrible healer, didnt know what the hell I was doing, stupid player, etc. I told him I was well aware of everyone under the sun basically praising Crit as a SCH for better shielding, but I told him Ive been keeping people alive up to this point, so I didnt feel a need to change my tactics. If there comes a time where I am unable to keep up, then I will look into this, but until then... Im just going to keep doing what Ive been doing and play my own way. Multiple people began calling me a retard at this point and a failure as a healer because my build and gear wasnt like every other SCH that was playing. They even went so far as to say I was a crippled WHM for not dumping everything into Crit. Ive been dealing with guys like this ever since I first began playing MMOs many years ago though. You always get these guys that question your build and say something like, No no no, HERES the build you want. I found it online. Its the best there is. I tried to tell them that were all individuals and shouldnt be treated like drones, and shunned because of our imperfection, but apparently Im useless because Im not like the other Scholars. None of these guys had even seen me play before, yet here they were assuming I was letting people die left and right, and couldnt heal for shit. Ive made it up to T5 so far, cleared all of the primals except Mog EX and Ramuh EX (hard to find compatible parties/tanks for Mog), and have just reached item level 94 for my SCH. Ive worked long and hard to get to where I am right now, so its kind of annoying to have these randoms assuming youre terrible at your job without even knowing you, ya know? Well, thats not even what upset me the most actually. What frustrated me the most is being told how I should play the game. Oh, youre not playing the game how I would, so youre an idiot. basically. I dont need that, come on. Im getting too old for this shit. Ive seen a few players part of a RP FC that walk everywhere they go. I couldnt do it. I need to sprint sometimes, but ya know what? They can walk all the damn time for all I care. I may not understand it or even agree with it, but that doesnt mean I should give them shit for it. They are free to play the game any way they please (as long as its within legal boundaries, of course, heh :p), so I just look for that same respect to be given to me when I tell someone I play differently than others do. Just because Im not another Crit SCH does NOT make me a useless healer. As long as I get the job done and keep them alive, why would it matter HOW its done? Its like some of these guys are so focused on statistics, numbers, probability, etc. and forget that even with all that Crit, it wont mean shit if they dont have the skill to use it properly. Its really simple to me. If someone is hurt, heal them. The objective is to keep them alive. If you can shield them better with Aldo because of your Crit, awesome. Now let me tell you exactly WHY I have more PIE than you, lol. I wont lie, some of the battles have put a strain on me at times in order to keep up with healing, but Ive pulled through and I think thats what is most important. Reaching your destination is all that matters... How you reach it is irrelevant. (I really need to stop making these so long, lol) #FFXIVblog
