Some children, especially those on the Autism Spectrum become fixated on screens and video games very easily. Their appetite for these is insatiable, and excessiveness is rampant. Tread gently here, but it is imperative to gradually bring balance into their lives as well. While they may use screens to wind down and regroup emotionally, it is important that they actually earn extra screen time by being cooperative. Some of these kids are so lonely that the computer has gradually become a substitute for face to face social contact and amusement. Take it gently as you re-establish a balance, but a better balance must be the end goal here....
