Sometimes early this year, I asked a new friend of mine what he does for a living and the answer was Im just a teacher. The word just caught my attention. It gave me an impression that my friend thought his job as a teacher wasnt important. It reminded me of my pre-clinical days in the University of Nairobi. Students taking Non-professional courses felt inferior to their counterparts. Some were even ashamed of revealing the course they take. A lady from medical school could not relate with a male student taking Arts-based courses; Reason? He was of low stature! Men studying Arts-based courses had a rough time attracting ladies from courses in medicine, pharmacy, engineering or architecture. Students taking professional courses like medicine and engineering treated their Arts counterparts with disdain. Students used to relate according to the course one was taking. And so, What course are you talking was the used to be the first question one was asked when you meet a fellow student. But thats all crap and Im talking from experience~ whatever you do, do it to your best and be proud of it. Success in life isnt based on the course that you studied, or whether you did it at diploma or degree level. Arts graduates are among the most highly paid in international organizations. Education alone does not guarantee success or riches. Some of the worlds most desperate derelicts are highly educated. The truth sets in painfully later in life; That therere other factors to success besides the course you did~ Your IQ, experiences in life etc. Your take?
