Sometimes we under estimate tasks and skip important preparation - TopicsExpress

Sometimes we under estimate tasks and skip important preparation steps aiming to cut the time and expedite the implementation which often result in undesirable delays. As IT Engineer who knows network switching, routing and security in concept I thought it will be straight forward to simply understand basic OS features and commands for the system I am planning to work on in order to implement my design package. However, I spent almost a week to troubleshoot an issues that I encountered at very preliminary stage which prevented me to proceed any further with the implementation and hence I ended up wasting a lot of valuable time. I spent one hour carefully reading the manual which helped me to figure out that I was lacking very basic understanding of the intended system design and setup. The one week period has been shortened to 10 minutes to implement the same scope; what a big difference?!
