Song Of The Day. Scotlands been in the news a bit lately - TopicsExpress

Song Of The Day. Scotlands been in the news a bit lately (Statement most likely to make the shortlist for Understatement Of The Year 2014) due to the referendum for Independence that took place on Thursday last week. Scotland of course is a country renowned for its musicality, and a massive influence on all genres of music, from pop to folk and everything in between. Many influential and exceptionally talented artists were born and raised in Scotland, such as Amy McDonald, Lulu, Sharleen Spiteri from Texas, Jimmy Shand and His Band, Simple Minds, Biffy Clyro, the list is endless. Youd be hard pressed, in our experience, to find a Scottish person who doesnt have a soft spot in their hearts for the Celtic Folk/Rock band featuring on Song of The Day today. Runrig were formed in 1973 on The Isle of Skye, starting out life as The Run Rig Dance Band. 40 years and 13 studio albums later, they are still going strong and their popularity is as enduring as it ever was. Whilst many of their songs are recorded in Gaelic, (not Garlic, thank you Auto-Correct), it is the song we are sharing today that has become somewhat of a signature song for them, used as the song that they always ended their concerts with and for obvious reasons, a real crowd pleaser. Written in 1841, author unknown, but forever linked with the band that sings it best - https://youtube/watch?v=pzQ1pNfbe3Q
