Soooo i just got home from a LONG evening of home visits and cat placements. I got lost coming home from the first one which made me an hour late for the second one. Im driving there frustrated and tired know i still have litter boxes to clean when i get home. Just feeling overwhelmed and defeated. As im driving home from delivering the second kitten i catch myself smiling. I was tjinking of what a great home that kitten just got. How it went from being a dirty, flea infested sick kitten to a beautiful healthy and happy member of its new family. As an animal rescuer your work is NEVER done. There is no light at the end of the tunnel. There is no time to take a breather. The moment you place that kitten there are millions more waiting for help. But as i left that kitten bouncing down the hallway of his new home never to be hungry, sick or scared again and the smiles on the famlies faces so happy to make it part of their family i took that short breath and saw a glimmer of light. Maybe only for a second but i saw it. It melts a special place in my heart to be a part of that kittens transition to its new loving home. I try to remember that part as i scoop my litter boxes:)
