Sorry for the rant, but I cant hold it in any longer......Yesterday morning about 10am Charlie started barking (which is rare for him unless someone is at the door or he feels something is wrong)...a few seconds later Poe started barking too. A few seconds after that both dogs came running full speed into the bedroom, Poe jumped on the bed and pulled the covers off my feet to wake me up, and wouldnt stop until I got out of bed. Once I was up, both dogs started running back and forth in the hall to get me to follow them. I thought they needed to go out, but instead of running to the front door, they ran to the back patio. I opened the door to see what was wrong, and there sat a 2yr old, a 3yr old and a 4yr old on the 12in ledge of the wall that surrounds the double olympic sized water reservoir behind my apartment. They had crawled under the fence and had they fallen, its a 20ft drop into a snake infested pit. The 4yr olds big sister who is 12 and has down syndrome was pleading with all three boys to get off the wall and the babysitter was nowhere in site and had no idea where the kids were. I told them to get back on the right side of the fence and to go home. They didnt hesitate, and before they left the girl thanked me. A few hours later, the dogs started barking again, this time running to Joe. He went out and sure enough, the kids were back on the ledge and this time the young girl was crying because the boys wouldnt listen to her, and again, the babysitter was nowhere in site and didnt know where the kids were. Joe made them get off the ledge and come back over and then came and got me. I went out to the front of the building, and there was the babysitter....sitting on her 3rd floor balcony talking on the phone. Meanwhile the kids are playing in the parking lot, in which people dont pay attention or slow down around here, and again the little girl is having to tend to them. She seen me watching and waved at me, so I waved back and the babysitter called her over and asked who I was and how did she know me..She told her I was the one who got the boys off the ledge to keep them from getting hurt..(her words not mine)...All of a sudden the woman sprang up from her lounge chair, and within seconds was running down the stairs trying to play babysitter of the year. I told her if I catch the kids on the ledge 1 more time, I was calling the law and was going to insist on Child Endangerment charges....all she could say was yes maam, no problem. Now I cant stand getting involved in peoples personal lives because I cant stand drama, but when it comes to kids getting hurt or doing things that can get them hurt and the parent or caretaker isnt doing a damn thing to prevent it from happening, Im gonna say something weather you like it or not. There is NO reason that 12yr old little girl should have to watch those kids when they have a damn babysitter, and there is no excuse for that woman to not be downstairs with those babies when they are outside playing. NONE! Those kids should be in her site and reach at all times. AM I WRONG?
