South African Under-20 National Team, Amajita were made to pay a heavy price for some defensive lapses as they were beaten 3-1 by their Qatar counterparts in an international friendly match at Grand Harmad Stadium in Doha on Saturday evening. After dominating most of the play, Amajita conspired to make some suicidal errors and were duly punished to lose a match they could have easily won. The strike force also missed a host of some gilt-edged chances both in the first and second half. Its errors coach David Notoane and his assistant Wendell Robinson have to correct ahead of the Commonwealth tournament which will take place in St Petersburg in Russia next week. Amajita then gave away two dangerous free kicks and it was from one such set piece that Hilal Mohamed scored, beating the South African wall and a diving Barr to make it 1-0 just before half-time. Tshepo Liphoko then came in for Haashim Domingo at the start of the second half and his inclusion almost paid dividends as his effort a minute after restart hit the upright and back into play. After incessant pressure Pule Maraisane finally equalised for Amajita to make it 1-1. But that good work was undone by another poor defensive play by Amajita who allowed Mohammed Ala’addin to waltz his way past a static U/20 defence before slotting past Barr to make it 2-1. Qatar then made it 3-1 after Saoud Al Khallaqi had beaten an offside trap to slot past Barr.
