Speak it out : If this verse doesn’t make us sit up and take - TopicsExpress

Speak it out : If this verse doesn’t make us sit up and take notice, then we may have become quite comfortably numb. Consider the greatest things you have accomplished for the Kingdom of God; think of the times you have taught others about God’s love or sent money to help feed the hungry of the world; think about all the things you have said and done in the name of Jesus Christ. Most likely it will make you feel quite good about yourself and your accomplishments. Then take a moment and think about the times when your words have cut through the heart of another, or when you have turned a deaf ear to the outcast; think about the time you let anger form a wedge between you and a loved one. We can’t have it both ways. We can’t ignore the second greatest commandment, to love our neighbor as ourselves. We can’t speak about love, and not show it; we can’t pretend we love when we don’t know Love. God is love; the very essence of who He is, is Love. If we can’t grasp that, what do we have and what will God say on that day, will He know us? Prayer: Father, thank you for the grace and mercy You continually extend towards us. We ask You today to reveal Yourself to our hearts; fill us with Your truth and love and open the door, so that we may come and have fellowship with You. Allow Your love to continuously flow through us to others. Before we begin to pat ourselves on the back, remind us, that all that we do, is only because Your Spirit has enabled us to do so. Forgive us for the times we pick and choose who and when we love. We long to hear from You, “well done, good and faithful servant”. We choose today to walk in Your truth, teach us Your ways and give us the wisdom and strength to put into practice the words You have spoken. Read: Matthew 7:22-23 - Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
