Special Ed 2 Samuel 6:21a-22a (New Living Translation) David - TopicsExpress

Special Ed 2 Samuel 6:21a-22a (New Living Translation) David retorted to Michal, “I was dancing before the Lord, who chose me above your father and all his family! Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this, even to be humiliated in my own eyes! (In context: 2 Samuel 6:20-22) I’m Pentecostal and people that know me know I love to dance in church. I have a bit of a reputation for it and from time to time I get a compliment about it, some say it inspires them. I was doing some construction work at an affiliated church, (the pastor and his family had visited our church a few times) when his thirteen year old son saw me he ran up to me and excitedly said “I saw you dance at your church, you’re an awesome dancer.” I must admit it tweaked my ego a little. The next day I was talking to the boy when he said “ don’t take this the wrong way but when I saw you dancing I thought your were special ed. Now that I have talked to you I see your not.” I could tell he was really concerned about hurting my feelings when I started cracking up he relaxed. He didn’t know it but I saw myself dancing on a video one time and I thought I looked like an idiot too. It was very painful for me to watch. Well at least it’s fun. Way more than fun, my greatest joy. Later I realized the spiritual implications of this story. The paradox between being pleasing to watch and looking extremely foolish, being used by God and being humbled at the same time. Isn’t it just like God to take something that the world sees as foolish and use it for His glory. Special ed in the School of Christ is where I want to forever be.
