Speck Family Update 1/5/15 Dear Prayer Warriors: We have had a lot happen recently as we celebrated Allies birthday and the Christmas holiday. It has been a season of highs and lows but the overall feeling for me is one of trust and faith. I have to believe that Allies life influenced and changed so many people. She fulfilled her purpose and plan that God laid out just for her and therefore He delivered her from her suffering and took her home. Nate recently shared openly that he had been very angry with God and had stopped reading the Bible. We have all grieved in our own way and we have all dealt with being angry at some point. Mostly because we dont understand why we had to lose Allie and give up such an amazing person, however as we all move forward, we are beginning to see how Allies life and death effected each of our lives and their direction. Nate has come to terms with his anger and he summed it up well when he said that if Allie in all her pain and suffering could worship and trust God, they we most certainly should be trusting and praising God as well. I am thankful that Nate has changed his thoughts and that he has committed his path to God so he can fulfill his own plan, designed just for him. We each have a different plan, just as we have each dealt with the loss of Allie in our own individual ways. Thanking God that we can share our deepest, angriest, most hateful feelings with Him and He continues to love us anyway. That is what salvation and faith is all about....we are human, we have emotions (lots of them) and God understands that we cannot comprehend His plan. God waits for us to come to Him or in Nates case, come back to Him so that he can comfort us and provide us with direction and peace. Today is 10 months since Allie went to heaven. Yesterday in church, my dear friend Beth honored Allie by singing a song that Allie wrote several Christmases ago. The title of the song is The Beauty of Christmas. My mom, Margie Palm, graciously offered to play the piece on the piano and she did a beautiful job. When Allie sang this song, she also played the song on the piano. Allie was extremely gifted and it was a joy to see her music shared in church. At the end of the song, Allie writes that the beauty of Christmas is in the first 6 letters....CHRIST!! That is the beauty of Christmas, that Christ was sent into this world to walk as a human and deliver us from our sins. I am attaching a link that I pray works so you are able to share in the beautiful song that my friend, Beth and my Mom, Margie, worked so hard to put together. https://youtube/watch?v=IsYlCj5wN3I Each day we look for new ways to share Gods love. Yesterday Tom drove to Harrisburg and picked up four homeless people who have been coming to church with some good friends of ours, Jan and Glen. None of the people who normally pick them up were available, so Tom went to get them. They worshiped with us and after church we invited them back to our home for dinner. God knew we had plenty of roast beef and that not all our expected company would come, so He put it on our hearts to welcome these people into our home. It was a beautiful afternoon as we shared food, love, stories and Allies testimony with them. We were reminded just how blessed we are as we met these people today, who were so happy to have a home cooked meal and a bathroom to use. We returned them back to their tent village in Harrisburg and left them with firewood, water, food, blankets and a propane heater. They said,God bless you! and promised to see us next Sunday in church. What a wonderful way to spend the day! Please pray for these people as they are outside in this VERY cold wind and weather. To close, I would like to ask that you would lift Andy up in prayer as he heads back to Messiah on Tuesday evening, Jan. 6th to start January term on Wednesday, Jan. 7th. He will be taking a Literature class on Shakespeare that Allie would have absolutely LOVED.....Andy, not so much. HAHA!! Pray that he can get back into the college life and enjoy his roommates and do well in this class. He has recovered so nicely from having his tonsils out which was also an answered prayer. Plus I told Andys surgeon that Andys roommates might send him a special gift because Andy no longer snores!!! Hallelujah! We had no idea how much of his snoring was related to his big tonsils. It is a wonderful thing and he is able to get better rest as a result. Thank you for your prayers that have been effective in his successful recovery after surgery. Now we pray that your prayers will be successful in helping him through this next semester as he focuses on his classes and does well. Pray that he can balance studying with fun and not be too stressed out!! Our love and appreciation to all of you for continuing to remember us in prayer. Praying you had a Merry Christmas and that you are seeking Gods plan for your life in the New Year. Tom, Zina and Andy
