Sports Deputy Minister, STEVEN MASUMBA has been convicted by the Lusaka Magistrate Court for using fake documents to obtain a job at the Lusaka Business and Technical College.Mr. MASUMBA has since been detained awaiting sentencing on Wednesday, this week.Facts are that Mr. MASUMBA, who is also Mufumbwe Member of Parliament, between December 1, 2005 and August 25, 2008, in Lusaka, allegedly used fake documents to obtain a job at the Lusaka Business and Technical College. This was by falsely pretending that he held a qualification of Accounting Technician from the National Institute of Public Administration -NIPA- when in fact not.And in delivering judgment, Lusaka Magistrate Wilfred Muma said he did NOT find any trace of truth in Mr. MASUMBAs evidence, adding that it is also a fact that Mr MASUMBA failed Basic Accounting and he did not sit for another subject.Magistrate MUMA also said he is now wondering how Mr. MASUMBA went on to obtain a Diploma from NIPA when he did not clear all the subjects. The magistrate further said that it is also clear from the evidence presented in court that Mr MASUMBA used the same qualifications to look for employment, therefore obtaining pecuniary advantage. In winding up his judgement, Magistrate MUMA advised the defence team to seek adjournment to prepare for mitigation, which the defence agreed to and it was granted.Mr MASUMBA has since been detained in custody until sentencing on Wednesday
