Srinagar, June 06, Following mysterious death of Amir Yousuf Mir, who was found hanging inside his flat in Mumbai, a complete shutdown was observed in his native village Boniyar in North Kashmir area of Baramulla District. Demanding the thorough probe in the suspicious death of the deceased, people staged protests against authorities and blocked the traffic movement on Srinagar- Muzaffarabad highway. Masses including women folk, took to the streets at Boniyar, a border village in north Kashmir district, soon after the news spread in the area. Mir, 23 son of Yousuf Mir was a well known model for valley youth who had participated in fashion shows from past six years. He was found dead inside his rented apartment in Kanakia area of film city on Tuesday night. Aamir had gone to Mumbai in 2009 to make his career in modeling. He is survived by his parents and younger brother. Death of Aamir plunged Boniyar village in mourning on Wednesday and people visited his residence to express their condolences. Meanwhile, protestors accused Mumbai authorities of murdering Amir for unknown reasons. “He was murdered before his hanging,” said one of the protesting relatives of deceased. Protestors were demanding proper investigation into the death. “There was no mark or indications which suggest that he had committed suicide.” They urged the state government to take up the matter with Maharashtra government to probe the death of Amir. Official sources said the protests intensified soon after the dead body of Amir reached the village, however, no report of untoward was reported. Senior officials from civil administration and police rushed to the spot to control the situation. Shops and business establishments remained closed.(JKNI)
