St. Francis Hospital Bankruptcy Update: The Dutchess County Medical Society issued a statement from President Dr. William Barrick in favor of Westchester Medical Centers bid for St. Francis citing job loss and possible monopoly power over hospital care in the County if Health Quests bid prevails. According to the statement, “Despite the claims of Health Quest to the contrary, we are deeply concerned that Health Quest could close the trauma center.” The statement also said that if Health Quest owned St. Francis it would have “substantial control over the health care marketplace.”
