Stay tuned for our Spring 2014 YouTube Video gofundme/24gr2w THE EVERYTHING PROJECT In order to begin programs and relief effort for refugee camps, while getting displaced and at risk persons and families out of harm’s way as MONUSCO continues the eradication of criminal armed groups, we need to build a Life Bridge to Isle Idjwi. It will serve as a strategic funnel for people and materials. As we network and co-ordinate with other organizations and efforts involved in Lac Kivu we may find superior or more permanent means for such a structure. Currently it would suffice to build a temporary bridge in the Pacific Island “Step It Up” method. A floating bridge of plank, barrel, binding and ballast will suffice cheaply and quickly. The location due to geographical necessity is the southern tip of Idjwi and the northern most point on the Rwanda side of the border. With the implementation of the Life Bridge we could realistically double the population of Idjwi, currently about 200,000 inhabitants. We will need to build structures, utilize trailers, and Big Houses where we can conduct schools and all manner of activity. The cost for such a bridge nearly a mile long is estimated between 1 to 5 hundred thousand dollars U.S. A conservative estimate is that we will need ten times this for initial provisions and pre-harvest cycle needs. The “Step It Up” Method We can use planks and barrels. I was talking to this couple in Malaysia and they said that we could build step it up style bridges. Eviera Tay Ching Yi and her boyfriend are my Facebook friends from Malaysia. They build them all the time over there. They say they are cheap and they can step it up really fast. The intention of this method is to make the bridge like a stairway to heaven. It might be wisest to build from both sides at once. We need the barrels, 5,000 according to a min. diameter of 2ft or more. 3-4 ft. across horizontal length wise 2 barrels across and 2 barrels long underneath a 4ft. by 8ft. 3/4 inch plywood board or comparable plank. Or 3 across vertical rather than 2 horizontal below each plank. In some places we may need a gap where we can fasten the planks together with rope. Seal the barrels with epoxy and secure the planks to the barrels with carpenters glue or appropriate epoxy and duct tape. All we need is: 1) 4ft. by 8ft. planks or equivalent. The bridge would thus be about 8ft wide and if weight load barring is right we can drive our pick-up trucks and fifth wheels across at least one at a time. 2) Barrels 3) We may need ballast. My friend said he had to put some water in the specific barrels he used because they were too buoyant. 4)Drills and rope. Fasten the planks together so the components, basically pontoon docks, will become more rigid and unified 5) Epoxy for sealing and adhesive to connect the planks at least 3 or more surface points or areas on the barrels and duct tape for securing barrels and preventing leaks. 6) Canoes and boats to work from the water during construction. Proposed Programs of The Everything Project Farms and Sustainable Villages We will need to buy the Good seed. If soil is deficient we will have to enhance it with top soil and fertilizer. There are quite a few pineapple plantations already so some of the soil has to at least be good for some crops. As we begin harvesting our own crops the dependency on provisions expenditures will lessen. From the beginning we will need to involve ourselves with a network of purveyors. We will stimulate and participate in the local economies as much as possible. Isle Idjwi is the ideal first site for the initial implementation of our dream. I have mentioned Idjwi and West Gisenyi because they seem ideal in tandem for security and demographic need, but wherever there is this need we shall try to put such programs in place. The Everything Project will seek to begin with our programs on Isle Idjwi as we open communication and permission from Rwanda. On Idjwi We would ideally need at least two hospitals. One between the North and center and one between the South and center with an airfield and possibly also triage unit in the center. The programs will most likely begin closer to the bridge on the south side of the island but there is the needs of the current inhabitants. We could build traditional farm homes with two levels above and a garden level with root cellar and duct for Roman cooling and food stores before and where we do not have refrigeration. We have to seek out power sources, be it hydroelectric, solar panel or diesel generator. Whatever is safely and economically practical until such infrastructure could be put in place and assist the grid as it may exist already. Bathrooms, Outhouses, and Responsibility of the Water Table SANITATION AND SAFETY ARE A MAJOR PART OF THIS PROJECT. Be it the pathogen from improperly disposed sewage, harmful forces, even lac overturns, and the mosquito. Human attack is not likely with the banners we will be flying and by utilizing the Rwanda site and island fortress of Idjwi in tandem, evacuation/ defense plans and implementation can be easily established. The malaria spreading mosquito needs to have its populations decimated. There is park in North Hollywood called Jamie Beth Slaven park. It has an excellent model for an African bathroom house. There are two outdoor sinks with a soap dispensary and a spicket on the side of the building away from the sinks. There could be solar showers off to the side as well. These are structures equipped to meet the same needs and will do well all over the continent. Where there is a water source or future and/or present well. This is another example of however best we might try to service these needs they will be met. Adequately or not. School Paradigm Pre-k 3 to 5 years old KinderCare 5 to 6 1 6 to 7 2 7 to 8 3 8 to 9 4 9 to 10 5 10 to 11 6 the testing year 11 to 12 (and all ages) 7 1st 12-13 Secondary primer 8 2nd 13-14 Secondary primer Freshman Sophomore Junior Senior University The age of the student might not always match up, especially at first, but the testing year is a good place to foster and place older students as they “catch up” academically. Some classes by nature will not need to be so age specific but the idea is to creat a focused and progressive course of education throughout the child’s life. The school could run on a trimester system of 10 weeks on and 7 weeks off and 1 week a year for festival. Farmers, Cooks, Engineers, Teachers, Carpenters, Vice-Regents, Volunteers, Exchange Workers, etc.. Now is the time we must take advantage of this, at least temporary, military stability. We can create a blossom, a lotus flower of the pre-existing network flourishing into a harmonious organism. The people and organizations in Congo-Rwanda region have been hindered, suppressed and under such looming danger and coercion that if we don’t take advantage of this empowerment we may once again be covered by a blanket of tyranny. This could be said of many places and people on the Continent and around the world but I am speaking specifically about East Congo. The ETP and the Life Bridge to Idjwi were to be pre-emptive actions to this last season of violence if not 50 years or more before. And now we are already in the aftermath. We must become more than a public service message. We must at least become support for groups such as MSF and the Peace Corps as we gain contribution for our programs. Groups such as HHI women in war, Mamas for Africa, Esemble forts pour Idjwi, BDOM-Bukavu, Cordaid, EWB Engineers Without Borders, WWB Water Without Borders, and others. As we continue to contact and extend our communication with these organizations we seek any and all others who can help us see this transformation unfold. Many of these organizations would be involved in more development and humanitarian programs in Lac Kivu if they were enabled and had the means. I remember reading on Mamas for Africas page that many of these initiatives where done by local people due to lack of outside funding. With our presence in Lac Kivu and Isle Idjwi we could co-ordinate with MSF for their services, along with the cancer screeners from Kenya, BDOM-Bukavu and other healthcare providers. As the situation becomes peaceful The Peace Corp. can become fully operational from their Bukavu Training Center once again, from which the seed programs we hope to be involved in could be headquartered. Of the 1 million declared residents of Goma 700,000 are of at least “refugee” status. The camps can only hold so much and the towns of Goma and Gisenyi are structured for 300,000 souls at this time. The time for the programs of ETP in co-ordination with Mangu’s pre-existing Hands is NOW. This effort could create a butterfly effect across the Continent. One unstated goal of ETP is to end child soldiering. Currently conflict rages in neighboring CAR. As the United International and Pan-African forces create military stability these groups along with the ETP can join efforts with Foundations like MSF and make the way for institutions inhibited by conflict such as The Peace Corps. Systemic co-ordination can lead to branching projects from Kivu to South Africa, CAR to Nigeria. Equatorial Africa can begin to lead the way in resourcefulness and education. Advances in food and medical sciences are becoming exponential. We will live for hundreds of years, then thousands, and possibly forever. As we embark on this awesome cusp of human evolutionary history the conditions akin to the industrial revolution persist across Africa and the third world, part of which I assure you is in the cities and hills of first world nations. Yet the Gifts of God bountifully rest with the peoples of Africa. Over this last year The Everything Project has been in contact with thousands of individuals and organizations. As we come in contact with so many groups mounting efforts and action for Lac Kivu and the Great Lakes Region one thing is certain to me. It is a NEED. And to varying and lessening degree will be met, often inadequately. One of the major focuses of d ETP is to help create a holistic network from the systemic patchwork of organizations already in Lake Kivu, with our overall focus being to see a prosperous future with harmonious and sustaining infrastructure. This alone could have a butterfly effect for all of the Great Lakes Region Africa and beyond. I remain prolific and am expanding our audience everyday but still cannot account for the lack of response. Outside the immediate network and entry level volunteer oppurtunity response, feedback and contribution have been minimal. Often just a few words of encouragement or appreciation. I am preparing for a cross-country promotional tour to dialogue with the parties I have contacted. I have e-flyered shops, churches, celebrities and organizations across the globe. USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, France, Kosovo, Belgium, Switzerland, Holland, Germany, Japan, Italy, Sweden, and continue to reach out . In order to see that subsistence grows into prosperity the ETP could team with the before mentioned and other organizations. The ETP, after meeting emergency needs, looks forward to having a business arm to encourage the stimulation of economy with Africa and other nations of the former Francophile world. I hope to teach and restart my manuscripts for my stories among other things. The overall word from the person on the street is that those interested or more of the grassroots who would love to go and do this once it is established. They either don’t have the means or feel they can’t contribute financially but once it is as real as a finished product they would like to be a part of it.. If the ETP can enable these individuals to make a difference while assisting and networking with other existing efforts we can see a lasting and bright future for the people of Congo-Rwanda. Something they have not had. Trailer homes and parks Prefabricated trailer homes designed for ease of shipment and assembly (non-toxic components. we dont want poisonous/caustic materials) can be utilized in many a location, like the undeveloped land of North Gisenyi just east of the airport and straddling the Congo border would be ideal. We will need to at least receive permission or lease from the Rwandan government for this location but would strongly reinforce our international status for any potential aggressors. And it there is need for eviction or relocation, those who earn a trailer working for us can always drive their home off any given time. Import and Sale of Used Cars and Parts: The ETP will create a business arm to sell and service cars and trucks and employ parts sales and mechanics. With safety and the road conditions as part of our mission at Garis and Parts we can help mobilize and empower people of Greater Kivu with affordable transportation. Filling Stations and Intracontinental Petrol Import: The ETP will run good old fashioned service stations with petroli, tow service, parts and more. . We hope to trade with Malagasy and Nigeria for the import of automobiles and petroli. Once we become involved in automobiles and oil we could foreseeably have an effect to help clean up Nigerias oil industry and ravaged delta among many other symbiotic partnerships. Once the ngo and llc of the ETP becomes fruitive we can supplement and seed programs of other organizations in tandem. Future Programs can include telecommunications, radio stations, amusement park, coltan “tantalite” trade, film production, restaurant and tourism. And more, so much more. I for one will fight against iniquity. But I can’t do this alone. If you are not interested in helping and/or responding YOU MUST PASS THIS ALONG TO SOMEONE WHO WILL HELP US. 1(415) 525.7434 and masumbe@gmail for all Inquiries, telephone and email listings. facebook/theebrythingproject mikeshaughnessey@yahoo The Everything Project on Facebook or Michael Shaughnessey, Jeremy Snell, Masumbuko Christophe, Buchengende Lola, David Musia Franck
