Sue and I have had a FANTASTIC day out yesterday. We drove into Manchester City Centre and met some very special friends from Finland; Jaana, her husband Asko, and their 5 month old daughter, Elli. I had not seen Jaana or Asko since the day before I flew home from Spain in December 2010. Jaana was a Student Nurse on a 3 month course from Finland and helped nurse Sue for 5 weeks in ICU. She is the type of person who seems able to be in the right place, doing the right thing every time. She gave me so much emotional support during those difficult times, and has kept in touch through Emails etc. I know Jaaana quite well but what would interest Asko was a bit of a concern, so as last resort , I took them to Man U. We got into their shop and he was like child in a chocolate factory. We eventually managed to extract him and we moved on. We then took them through the leafy lanes of Cheshire and treated them to an English Pub Lunch at the Rose and Crown in Knutsford; where our son Ian is a Manager. After that we took them to Tatton Park, them showed them a bit of local countryside, a guided tour of Darwen and treated them to a coffee at ours, taking them back to their Hotel for about 5.00pm Sue cannot remember anything about her stay in Hospital, or Janna but really enjoyed the day. For me it was a sort of moving on because I was able to actually say “Thank you”, not only to someone who nursed Sue and supported me, but who has become a lifetime friend.
