Sunday 16/06/13 – Good group of people training this morning. Get the blood flowing with walking and going to ground. Work on maintaining structure for as long as possible before going to full relaxation lying on the floor. Add in closing the eyes while going to ground. Switch this to closing the eyes when walking and having them open as you go to ground. Worked ideas from Emmanuel MANOLAKAKIS’ Charting the Course disc. Work centred around learning to let go of tension – began with sitting, scanning the body for the tension that is allowing you to sit. Then let go of this tension and allow gravity to pull you to the ground. This cycle is then repeated in slightly different ways – sitting and tipping yourself to the side, kneeling on your heels and tipping to the side, kneeling but raised up off your heels. This continues into the same drilling but now you are letting go and falling on a partner – you’re both working with fear and learning to relax under stress. Progress into walking the fists on your partner’s body, deep pressure, push-ups, giving and accepting. Moved onto ideas of survival from Martin WHEELER’s Knife Defence disc – trying to understand the value of relaxation and working to get the clunkiness (tension) out of our movement in response to stimulus. Tough work!! End session with free-play Grab and Escape drilling.
