Sunday, January 11, 2015. Pastor Mark Montei sermon title was It Was A Dark and Stormy Night. Please read: Matthew 2:1-12 & Isaiah 9:1-4. 1. What were the lands of Zebulun and Naphtali? Zebulun and Naphtali were two of the 12 Sons of Jacob. 2. How were they in the darkness? The underlaying reason why these lands were so dark & scary had little to do with geography, but much to do with their spiritual condition. Examine your heart & admit that is has places that are dark & scary. It was a dark and stormy night in Zebulun and Naphtali because they had crowded out the Lord in their lives. But, after this dark and stormy night, God was going to once again give them light. How foolish we Christians are at times, when we fail to turn on Gods light and let that light govern the course of our lives. Your life is going to look rather dark if you fail to turn on the light of Christ. In Jesus, God gives you a lot of light. In the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:16), Jesus said, In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. We can show others the way to Jesus by letting our light shine. If they see that we have the light, they will want it too. (May) Christ dwell in your hearts through faith-that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
