Sunday, January 25, 2014 Singing With A Nobler Theme Scripture - Then Moses and the Israelites began singing this song to the Lord: “I will sing to the Lord! He has done great things. He threw horse and rider into the sea. “The enemy said, ‘I’ll chase them and catch them. I’ll take all their riches. I’ll take it all with my sword. I’ll take everything for myself.’ But you blew on them and covered them with the sea. They sank like lead into the deep sea. “Are there any gods like the Lord? No, there are no gods like you— You are wonderfully holy! You are amazingly powerful! You do great miracles! (Exodus 15:1, 9-11 ERV) Observation - Praise is only possible when Ive allowed God to rescue me. If Moses and the Israelites had fought and defeated the Egyptians themselves, they may have still reveled in the victory, but they would not have sung unto the Lord (they would have probably sung some version of Queens We are the Champions song instead!). Each time I stand and see the deliverance of my God, Im given a new song and a new reason to exalt the Lord and praise His Glorious Name. The simple Johnny Appleseed Grace says it well: Oh, the Lord is good to me. And so I thank the Lord For giving me the things I need: The sun and the rain and the apple seed; The Lord is good to me. Prayer - O Lord, You HAVE been so good to me. When I allow You to work in my life, not only do things go better, Im also given fresh perspective from which to praise You. May I never stop learning to rest in You; for when I do, my song has a nobler theme. Amen. I agree. youtu.be/V_IrdS-zu48
