Sunny ~ Blue Beach Tide (2014-01-25): 00:41am Low, 06:49am High, 13:20pm Low, 19:22pm High ~ The tube-like traces here are on the upper surface of the Lighthouse Sandstone, an unusual place to find a trace fossil in our experience because the Lighthouse Sandstone is a layer famous for containing fossil bones. Bone-producing layers at Blue Beach seldom show trace fossils in the mix - the traces instead are abundant but within very different types of bedding. The second unusual point to this example is that they are CONVEX structures on an UPPER BED plane. Convex traces are usually preserved on the underside, so these are rather hard to explain. Todays example remains unidentified.
