Support Nationalism, Pan-Africanism to prosper - Museveni tells newly commissioned cadet officers Saturday 4th October 2014 President Museveni has said for any country to prosper economically, the people must be nationalist, support Pan- Africanism and internationalism in order to create a bigger market to sale their products. He noted that there is need for African States to unite and create a bigger market for its countries to sale their products and to negotiate with other business players like China and Europe among others to earn them higher returns. The President said Ugandas products require national, regional and international markets in order to get higher returns, adding that the internal market is too small. The President was yesterday speaking to the recently commissioned 202 cadet Officers at State House Entebbe. The Cadet Officers at the rank of Lieutenants under took a one year Military training at Kabamba Military Academy. The President focused his lecture on `Uganda; and what is the value of Uganda under an ideology and Patriotism. The President said a person who does not understand why he needs Uganda is an enemy to himself or herself because Uganda is for the prosperity of the people of Uganda. Uganda first and foremost is for our prosperity but if you want to live in the ancient way, you do not need Uganda. But now for somebody not to understand why you need Uganda is to be an enemy to themselves because you do not know your interest, he said. The President said many African countries have not experienced economic development and growth because of small internal markets adding that some of the African countries are still in conflicts because they have failed to address the problem of lack of patriotism. He cited how Germany which was once divided into 39 Kingdoms became economically strong, modernized and capitalized based on profit after it fought war with France to become united, because of the demand for economics. The President noted that Nationalism and Pan- Africanism will bring prosperity to Uganda among other stimuli like Infrastructure including electricity, roads and railway. He said that production cost should be lowered through infrastructure in order to attract investments. He urged the Cadet Officers to stand on a strong foundation that will show them the clear way as they continue to serve Uganda. He called on them to love their country and stand against sectarianism based on tribal and religious tendencies.
