Sure, the History Channel and the Discover Channel tell some stories. You know, aliens, UFOs, black holes, worm holes, the Bermuda Triangle, and the Devils Triangle. Missing people, missing airplanes, missing this, missing that. Great TV, but, boy, do they miss the real story. Try Midland, TX. Try my house. You want the un-explained, come see me. No make believe here, the real deal. For instance, today I decided to clean a shelf above the sink. I took all things down, put them in the sink, and washed them. Then, I start putting things back in place. Included are four Corn King platters which Mother inherited from Aunt Aileen, and which she gave to Rita. These hang on the wall, by plate hangers. Rita had watched with interest as I did this, seemed it was a novelty, seeing a man wash things. So, she is my witness. Three of the four plates were no problem, but the fourth, a problem. The last plate hanger left. Where, who knows, a vortex, a black hole, a worm hole, gremlins, aliens, purple plate hanger eaters? I know it was there, I put it there. I know it was there, Rita saw it there, oh, it was there. But, gone, oh yes, it is gone. We looked everywhere. The counter, the shelf, the stove, the floor, the fridge, heck, Rita even took a things from the kitchen trash to be sure it had not leaped there. No plate hanger, no way. And, this is not the first thing to disappear from here. Oh, hammers, clothes, books, cash,,sun glasses, car keys, chocolate, many, many things. Just vanished. I thought about writing a book on this, maybe, The Midland Menace would be a good title. The world ought to know, it should be investigated and reported. And I took the first steps, I started keeping a log of the things that disappeared, time, dates, witnesses. Yep, goona be an author, gonna be famous, gonna get some of that Hollywood movie version cash. Yep, had it all figured out. So, today, I was starting to write, to tell the true story of The Midland Menace. And, to get my facts right, I went to get my list of missing things. You have to document to make a factual report, and I had the notes to prove things. Instead, I am telling my tale of woe on Facebook. You guessed it, the Midland Menace has sucked the notes our of our world, down some black worm hole, with aliens laughing, mocking me.. And, there they are playing with my hammer, hanging plates with my plate hanger, spending my cash, wearing my sunshades. Little monsters.
