TCM Monday morning, 10:15 am eastern time: When A Feller Needs A Friend (1932) is a sentimental trifle starring a young Jackie Cooper as a lame boy with over-protective parents, and the feisty old uncle (Chic Sale) who teaches him gumption. Sale is the reason for checking this flick out, a 47 year old actor convincingly playing a character of at least 30 advanced years, his specialty. In real life, hed never actually make it to his seventies, passing away instead at age 51. And did you know that, for a time--and much to his consternation--Chic Sale was a term synonymous for out-house? Why? Google it gang, Google it!....
