TEXAS SECURITY OFFICER FATALLY SHOOTS ATTACKER FORT WORTH TX Police are investigating after a private security officer who was being assaulted shot and killed his attacker Sunday morning at the Fort Worth Intermodal Transportation Center, police and officials said Sunday. The security officer, who works for Ruiz Protective Services, suffered multiple injuries and was taken to a local hospital. His condition were serious but were not life-threatening. The incident occurred shortly after 6:30 a.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of Jones Street near the Greyhound Bus area. Police did not release any information about what might have prompted the assault. But witnesses told officers that they saw a man attacking the security officer. The security guard at some point pulled out a weapon and shot the man. The wounded man was taken to a hospital where he later died, authorities said. The identity of the man had not been released. Officials with Ruiz Protective Services of Fort Worth could not be reached Sunday. The Fort Worth security company is contracted to provide security for the transportation center, said Joan Hunter, a spokeswoman with the Fort Worth Transportation Authority. The transportation facility offers access to commuter rail service, regional and national Amtrak train service, and bus, taxi and trolley services. Greyhound was the only transportation service open at the time of the attack Sunday morning, Hunter said. Hunter said no other attacks have been reported at the center since it opened more than 10 years ago. “It’s monitored by security cameras all the time,” Hunter said. “And one or more security guards patrols the facility 24-7.”
