THE DANDENONG RANGES Saturated by more than just rain. It may - TopicsExpress

THE DANDENONG RANGES Saturated by more than just rain. It may have been a chilly Melbourne day but the Gateway to the Dandenong Ranges greeted visitors with the brand it is now renowned for; No McDonalds in Tecoma. Visitors to the popular 1000 Steps at the base of Mt Dandenong were eager to chat with local residents sharing our story so far. We were delighted to hear that tourists from England, Sweden and Germany were already well versed in details pertaining to our little grassroots campaign and that they had no intention of visiting the Tecoma outlet. Further up the hill in Upwey and directly out front of the Tecoma store more campaigners peacefully drove the local message home. Its the love for this beautiful region that inspires locals to fight on. Residents have accepted their role as custodians and have vowed to keep fighting this corporate bully. The dwindling trickle of customers visiting the outlet is an indication of the impact our campaign has had, and the encouraging words of support from visitors is inspirational. There are no professional protestors here, this is all heart. McDonalds underestimated the size of these hearts and the only question now is when will they respect this community and gracefully retreat?
