THE FOURTH ANNIVERSARY OF BLOCKAGE OF THE NAIROBI MOMBASA TRANS - TopicsExpress

THE FOURTH ANNIVERSARY OF BLOCKAGE OF THE NAIROBI MOMBASA TRANS NATIONAL HIGHWAY. Next month October 2014 will mark the fourth Anniversary of blockage of Mombasa - NAirobi Transnational Highway. This was a day when residents of Taita Taveta County woke up and barricaded the transnational highway to draw the attention of the government to the pathetic condition of the Voi - Mwatate - Taveta road. The barricade lasted for five days. It is also the month in which I was dragged out of my Mayoral office by District Criminal Investigating Officers and thrown into cell and charged with organizing a violent riot. The case lasted two and a half years before it was dismissed for luck of evidence by the Voi Senior Residents Court. It is also a day that I consider special and take time to remember my co-accused in the case. I also gladly remember Hon. Raila Odinga, Hon Thomas Mwadeghu, Hon Mwandawiro Mghanga, Hon Timothy Mwamunga, The Late Gabriel Nyambu, The Late Maalim Aboud Omar, Railways Mosque for his prayers, Christopher Mwambingu, Oginga Randiki, Richard Babu, Nia Mumba, the Late Dinah Wamboi, members of Taita Taveta Matatu association for having solidly stood with us during and after the case. My special thanx go to Raila for having sent the Assistant Minister for Roads With whom we negotiated the terms together with Hon Mwadeghu. I also thank Hon Mwadeghu for coming out as the only MP who supported us despite objection by his fellow Taita MPs. Secondly, it is sad to report that the Police Commissioner Mathews Iteere who personally ordered for our arrest lost his job and Sergeant Sulubu, the man who manufactured the evidence against us was later on transferred to Mandera and unfortunately was kidnapped and shot dead by the suspected alshabaab militias. I do not blame them for they were performing their duties. For all wananchis who stood by us during the case may God help you all. Amen.
