THE NEED OF A DELIVERER THE NEED OF A REDEEMER FOR THE RANSOMED AND THE REDEEMED THE NEED OF A SAVIOR SACRIFICE AND OFFERING THOU WOULDEST NOT, BUT A BODY HAST THOU PREPARED ME: There is not a just man, woman, boy, or girl, on earth that sinneth not or that does not sin at some given time. When the commandments of God are broken…there is the penalty of death. The law holds and claims the death penalty for the criminal. If the criminal repents and turns from his or crime….which they should do….the commandments or the law of sacrifices …can not clear the guilty criminal or give eternal life. The commandments of God are good and are not bad…they point us to a good way of life that we are to always live. But when those commandments are broken….and we all have broken the commandments…..being sorrow for our sins, repenting of our sins, turning from our sins…..will not take away the penalty claim held over us who are the guilty or the death claim the commandments held over our lives….and not to do away with the commandments…which are just, holy, and good for us. Therefore the law…the law of sacrifices … were added. The law of sacrifices were added to point to the need of a deliverer, the need of a redeemer, the need of a savior, the need of someone to stand in our stead and bear the penalties which we have brought upon ourselves from having broken the commandment. The law of sacrifices were added to point us to the need of someone to satisfy the death claim the commandments held over us all….and not to do away with the commandments which are holy, just, and good for us…but to do what the commandments could not do, once broken, that is, to remove the death penalty claim held over us, or and give us eternal life. But when Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, came and became God’s sacrifice, taking our sins, our guilt, and all the penalties of our sins upon Himself, in our stead, in our place, for us…..His applied sacrifice in our behalf…was the acceptable sacrifice…..which satisfied the death penalty and death claim of the commandments….which we had brought upon ourselves, because all people have sinned. He fulfilled the sacrificial law. He did what the commandments and the law of animal sacrifices could not do…that is….forgive sins and give us eternal life….to those of us who are sorry of our sins, repents of our sins, and turn from our sins. He clears our guilt, and takes away our sins….satisfying the penalty of death claim of the commandments. He did what the commandments and the law of animal sacrifices could not do for a sinner. Please notice……….. The temple sacrifices and the burnt offerings have ceased. Jeremiah 7:21. Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Put your burnt offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat flesh. 22. For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices: But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you. The temple sacrifices and the burnt offerings…An added law Galatians 3: 19. Wherefore then serveth the law? (This is referring to the law of sacrifices) It was added because of transgressions, till THE SEED should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. Hosea 6: 6. For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. The added law of animal sacrifices did not satisfy the death penalty claim of the commandments…which the commandments held over the repentant sinner. Hebrews 10: 6. In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. Only the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, taking our sins, our guilt, and all the death penalties of our sins…..which the commandments claimed and held over the sinner… upon Himself, in our stead, in our place, for us…..His applied sacrifice in our behalf…was the acceptable sacrifice…..which satisfied the death penalty and death claim of the commandments….which we had brought upon ourselves Hebrews 10: 8. Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law; (the law of sacrifices) 9. Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first (the sacrifices which pointed to Jesus Christ, the Lamb Of God), that he may establish the second.(accept the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God) By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Psalm 51: 16. For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. THE TIME OF REFORMATION Hebrews 9: 6. Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God. 7. But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: 8. The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: 9. Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; 10. Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until THE TIME OF REFORMATION. 11. But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 12. Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. 13. For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14. How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. Hebrews 9: 22. And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. Hebrews 10: 1. For the law (the law of animal sacrifices) having a shadow of good things to come(pointed to the coming of Jesus Christ, The Lamb Of God, whose sacrifice of himself would take away sins) and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. 2. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. 3. But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. 4. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: gtaaustralia.org.au/gta-tv/sermon-galatians-pt-1-by-garner-ted-armstrong/ gtaaustralia.org.au/gta-tv/sermon-galatians-pt-2-by-garner-ted-armstrong/ gtaaustralia.org.au/gta-tv/sermon-galatians-part-3-by-garner-ted-armstrong/
