THE REAL RICHES OF WEST AFRICA, YOU NEVER SEE THIS ON CNN OR BBC..... WORLD CLASS INTERNATIONAL SOCCER AND ATHLETIC STADIUM IN oil rich Akwa Ibom NIGERIA. So you thought only Qatar and Dubai can do this. This is NOT yet another CNN story about the ravishes of EBOLA in West Africa... to many that is all they ever heard about this region where many of ancestors come from. This refreshingly is about creative, sports loving people and the richness of their own Oil and Gas resources that when properly utilized can transform a state from an isolated group of Local Governments to a Modern Metropolis.... while still maintaining the Clean, Green, Serene Natural environment in the Villages. I first came to this state with my host Chief Sunny Jackson Udoh over 24 years ago after travelling for almost 3 hours through pot holed roads from Calabar to Uyo. At least the Chief treated me with class because he made sure I road at the back with him in a Maroon Mercedes Benz back then. The traffic was horrendous and whenever it rained heavily we had to creep slowly over bridges over flowing with flood water. There were no airports in the state then and some of the hotel rooms were like a scene from one of those Missionary movies I used to see in Trinidad and still on late night TV in the USA about Africa (when they wanted to raise money). But this here is the beginning of a new Africa that we saw in our vision with Industrialist Chief Sunny Jackson Udoh and his son Chief Iniobong Udoh over 22 years ago when we opened the first Computer Lab in Calabar before the Internet even existed there. I am glad I was part of that early pioneering.... even though there is so much more to do to create a sustainable non-oil export oriented state based on the value of its massive Creative potential and Sports. SO here is a new Super BOWL type Stadium built in my favorite state of Nigeria not far from the ancestral home of my Business and Cultural Partners in Uyo, Akwa Ibom , Nigeria. Yes I may spend time in those beautiful villages that remind me of my own birthplace in Toco , Trinidad and Tobago... but the real Africa that you dont ever see on BBC or CNN or ABC or read on the New York Times is happening just a few miles from these villages. There is now a massive International Airport with one of the longest runways in Africa and a modern fly-over road system that looks better than many places I have traveled even is many parts of the USA and Asia.
