THE RECONSTRUCTION OF GAZA. A donor conference will soon - TopicsExpress

THE RECONSTRUCTION OF GAZA. A donor conference will soon convene in Cairo to collect funds towards the reconstruction of Gaza. Hopefully, the Gulf States will demonstrate their support of terrorism by generously contributing towards the repairs deriving from the terrorist activities they have been so eager to sponsor. It is also to be expected that the European leaders cowered by Middle Eastern dictators will open their purses generously. Make no mistake I am all for the reconstruction of Gaza if it is carried out in such a way that this is beneficial for the millions of Palestinians that have been held hostage by their corrupt and bloodthirsty leaders. I expect that my western liberal friends so enamored by the Palestinian cause will in this reconstruction stand up to their corrupt friends in Ramallah and Gaza in defense of the wretched populations of Gaza. For the Cairo conference to be meaningful and helpful to the people of Gaza, there are a number of conditions that must be impressed on Hamas and PA leaders. Firstly, the Cairo conference is not meant to raise funds to further fatten their Swiss Bank accounts. To this end the funds raised will be controlled by an international commission that will not include the United Nations, an institution that under Ban Ki Moon has become a sewer of corruption and nepotism. Secondly, Israel and Egypt must be given a role in the supervision of construction projects in Gaza. In the past, Hamas has built tunnels into both countries through which it has been able to carry out subversive and hostile activities against both countries. Should the donors fail to ensure this condition, it is certain that some of those funds will be directed towards the construction of tunnels, which will in turn necessitate another Israel operation in Gaza. Then we will have to convene another donor conference a few years from now. Before any reconstruction of Gaza can be undertaken, it may be wise to explore the possibility of compensation to Egypt in exchange for parts of the Sinai that will be incorporated into Gaza towards a final settlement between Israel and the PA. In that way comprehensive development plans can be made with the welfare of Palestinian people as the primary concern. Let the Cairo conference not be just another opportunity to denigrate Israel but rather a genuine attempt at addressing the nightmare of a people whose primary oppressor has been the most corrupt ruling class of the region. Let us stop pretending to be supporters of Palestinians as an avenue to vent our anti semitism and show real empathy for the masses of Palestinian victims of Fatah and Hamas.
