THE SNAKES ARE OUT . . . Well, maybe NOT right at this moment since we are supposed to have freezing weather tonight, but we have already had our first snake-bitten dog episode this weekend. Are your pets vaccinated against snake venom??? If you live on the outskirts of town, or out in the country, you might want to consider getting your pets vaccinated soon. Vaccination buys you time to get your pet to your Vet for treatment, and helps to decrease the swelling and tissue damage from the venom. The first time series is a first vaccination and a booster in 3-4 weeks, followed by a single annual booster given in March or early April each year --- before the snakes come out for the summer.
