THE SUBTRACTION OF KNOWLEDGE AND THE EMERGENCE OF IGNORANCE عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم : مِنْ أَشْرَاطِ السَّاعَةِ أَنْ يَقِلَّ الْعِلْمُ وَيَظْهَرَ الْجَهْلُ Anas (radi Allahu anhu) said: From among the signs of the Hour is the religious knowledge will decrease and religious ignorance will prevail… Collected by Bukhari 81 Brief commentary for this subject: This hadith is a proof for the Prophethood of Muhammad (sallAllahu alayhi wa salam) as he said these words many years ago and they are witnessed today. •Knowledge is inherited from the Prophet, his companions and the tabi’oon and the scholars with knowledge and guidance, along with the people who follow them. •Many people today have abandoned seeking knowledge. Very few have a desire to study or to go through the trouble to learn it. On the contrary, most people place more attention to newspaper and magazines, etc. Most of these articles around today lack knowledge and snatch away peoples’ time. •Ignorance is being propagated and broadcasted from east to west, between the common folk, and people are becoming infatuated with ignorance. •People have named such periodicals as knowledge, culture and advancement. Furthermore, they have named the people who concern themselves with this information as well- bred intellectuals. Nonetheless, stupidity and allurement towards these ignoramuses have increased. So much so, the people who study Islam are now being called reverts with retrogression. In their attempt to degrade the status beneficial books, they call them – ancient and outdated.
