THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE. (Matthew. 19:16-26) This coversation started with a very religious man pursuing after Jesus. He wanted to know the next thing needed for him to DO to have eternal life (saved). He wanted to be sure if all his deeds are in place to give him salvation, at least he had been obeying the law since his youth (vs.18-20). As far as the law is concerned, he had no flaws, he is an ardent observer of the mosainic law, but the end of his conversation with Jesus was that, as rich, young and as famous a ruler of the Jew he was, he left the presence of Jesus sorrowfully, because the conclusion of Jesus was not in his favour. He thought Jesus would give him some rules and regulations, but was shocked with what Jesus said (vs 21,22). Now, in verse twenty-six, Jesus was responding to the question the disciples asked in the previous verse-who then can be saved?, and He said, with men this is impossible.... what did Jesus meant with that statement? what is impossible? what is the implication of the word this in the context of the passage? Jesus was referring to a particular thing and that is SALVATION. other things might be possible with men, but THIS is impossible. The statement mean that salvation is not achieved by mans efforts, it is not the doings of man. no amount of the strenght and efforts of a man can made him attain salvation. many think that by their religious activities, rites, precepts and ceremonies that they are saved. these are wrong presumptions! Bible reading, prayers, church attendance, paying tithes, giving alms, doing good, obeying laws and commandments brings no man to salvation. Salvation is not what you do for God. it is never what you bring to God. it dosent depend on your behaviours. you dont merit it by your best actions. it is not striving for a better attainment. it is not the matter of doing good or bad. note this, none of your works can buy you SALVATION, for they could not do it, your works ar weak, impotent to get it done (Rom.8:3). ... WITH YOU IT IS IMPOSSIBLE... -to be continued.....
