TUESDAY OCTOBER 21, 2014 “THE TELLING PUNCH LINE OF COMEDIANS EVERYWHERE “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” - Romans 3:23 Its become a staple of comedians, screenwriters and joke tellers everywhere: The exasperated man behind the steering wheel, driving in circles in an unfamiliar area, hopelessly lost. But he refuses to stop for directions, even if his life depended on it. Beside him, his wife rolls her eyes, sighs dramatically, and says for the hundredth time, For Petes sake, would you just stop and ask for help! When it comes to the nitty-gritty of our lives -- managing finances, raising kids, maintaining relationships -- why do we need guidance and direction? Because all of us are far from perfect, and every person on earth has shortcomings, weaknesses, and blind spots. There is obviously a major flaw abiding in the human race -- a malfunction that keeps us from operating at our full capability. This is a flaw found in the young and old, male and female, Asian or European, Latino or Caucasian, in all peoples on every continent. That flaw is what the Bible calls sin. And sin causes people to live apart from God and mess up their lives in a myriad of ways. Since the Bible declares openly that the human race is in a fallen state, we need to turn to someone or something for the answers. The Bible is the one book that can be relied upon to speak the truth, teach the truth, and impart the truth. It is not a sign of weakness or helplessness to seek the Creators assistance for getting our lives in order. Perhaps as you read this today, you have taken a wrong turn or two and your life is not where it could be. Dont be like the man who knows hes lost but wont stop and ask for help. Take time right now to talk with your Heavenly Father and ask for His help; then spend time in His Word, as it will keep you on the right path by speaking, teaching, and imparting truth to you.
