Teachers in Kenyan Public schools have returned to work after The Kenya National Union of Teachers formally called off a countrywide strike. The union described the decision by the Industrial Court to act as an arbitrator in the dispute with the Teachers Service Commission as a big win. The unions Secretary General expressed confidence that the court will settle their dispute amicably and with the desired results. The strike was a result of the deadlock between the union and Teachers Service Commission - where the issue of basic salaries could not be agreed on. The court directed the parties involved in the labour dispute to submit proposals on the expected pay to help it determine salaries for teachers.
