Ten good reasons for our independence Ten good reasons for our independence The reasons for our independence include the following but not limited to them. We want to build a new and better country. Nigeria has failed us in every way imaginable, worst of all on the economic front. The interests within Nigeria are too many to cater for our needs as a people with dignity and humanity. We want to promote our own language. O’odua Nation today, is a multilingual society, with the English language serving as the official language in Nigeria, but we want to promote our own language, Yoruba and it’s other derivatives, in all spheres of society, allowing it to regain its rightful place which it deserves amongst the rich and diverse languages of Africa. We want to be recognised as O’oduans. We want to be recognised as O’oduans and not Nigerians, as being Nigeria only means being from a geographical landmass. We want to be identified along with our culture, race and language. We want to improve our economy. Since the discovery of Oil, our once vibrant economy which developed Nigeria for years has deteriorated. These we want to re-develop again and bring up to global standards, making us kep players in the global economy. We want to uphold and dignify our culture. A people without a culture is a lost people, is what many say. Our culture is being strangled within Nigeria. Daily our culture dies, with their colonialist mentality which created Nigeria and runs it. We want to decide our own path in life. Every people have a right to existence as a people, before Nigeria was we were and after Nigeria is long gone, we shall be. We want to develop our education. Our rich history tells us of how highly educated we were in various fields. It also mentions of how our expertise was sought by various kingdom from around the world. We need to return back to our ancestral education and have is as our foundation in this century and the coming ones. We want to maximise and utilize our population strength. With over 60 million citizens within Nigeria, O’odua nation is bigger than most developed nations in Europe which were founded on the shared identity, culture and history. This is what we want for O’oduans. We want to improve our infrastructure. Before the amalgamation and formation of colonial Nigeria, O’odua land enjoyed various state-of the-art infrastructure of that century. Our infrastructure has deteriorated along with Nigeria, as the right to develop our lands have been taken from us and placed under Nigeria. We want to support ourselves, peoples, lands, sciences, arts, ideas and ideologies amongst others. Search for: Recent Posts Message to our African Kindred in the Diaspora.
