Thank You Highlanders Fans! Less than two days ago, we told you that former UC Riverside Volleyball player Kristin Van Dongen is trying to raise money to send her mother, Teri, to the University of Michigan Speech Pathology Clinic to help her regain her voice following a gunshot wound to the chest suffered through an act of domestic violence. In the first 24 hours after we sent the word out, you raised more than $1,300 for Kristin and her mother—by far the most money raised in a single day since the first day Kristin began her quest. From Kristin: Thank you all so much. Im overwhelmed by the amount of support from UCR Athletics. Im so touched. I cant thank you enough. Thanks to a great turnout at last nights fundraising event at Fresco II in Palmdale, it looks like Kristin and Teri are halfway towards achieving their goal of raising $30,000. As great as you all have been in assisting Kristin, we can still do more.
