Thank you to everyone for the very kind birthday wishes. I had a great day, plotted out by Alix. She booked me into a float tank appointment in the morning. On my bike ride back, I stopped in a cafe and sat for an hour in the sunny window, looking at the sky. I didnt have my phone. Alix had some soup for me when I got back. And then our old friend Sarah Walton came to give me a massage. I called my mom and told her about the float tank. She said Oh it would be like going back to the womb. But more comfortable! We laughed and then fell silent for a bit on the phone. And just an hour ago I got to watch little Jacob have his first two bites of a rich chocolate cake. He had a full-blown conniption of joy: laughing out loud, almost bouncing out of his high chair, and clutching his belly with glee as the full taste pervaded him.
