The ABRSM wishes to consult with BDRS members on proposed changes to scales requirements to the woodwind grades. They have sent us a first look at the proposals. From Grade 3, compared with the current syllabus, there is a gradual reduction in the workload for each subject, leading to a shift in approach in Grades 7 and 8 where the current syllabus’s emphasis on all keys is replaced by a selection of five tonal centres in both grades. They will be sending us a detailed questionnaire in mid-December.We will be glad to incorporate any comments members may have on the proposals.
