The Aggression Tip: At first, I encouraged anger as a way to manage anxiety and other symptoms of ASD, and then, I discouraged it because it may link to worsening feelings of paranoia. However, in this tip, I may be changing my mind again as I believe Ive been wrong on multiple things. The way the human mind works is pretty confusing to understand. Well, what I would like to address is that uncomfortable feelings like anxiety and paranoia seem to rise the longer we try to keep aggressive feelings suppresed (yes you read that right). There seems to be drawbacks in trying to keep suppressing anger or feelings of aggression. Its like the mind/body needs to act out in some sort of act or expression of aggression to make it feel more secured from the threats/problems in your life. Without some sort of consistent way to vent this aggressive urge, you may potentially explode in an all out meltdown. Before, I argued that overthinking is the issue at hand that causes these problems, but now, I feel like the overthinking is really the minds attempt to deal with or figure out the problems, but the problem isnt probably the overthinking act itself. There are safe and appropriate ways to tune down this agressive feelings such as screaming into a pillow, stomping your foot on the ground, exercise, growl, squeeze a stress ball or some other object, stimming, intensely shaking/trembling your body for some moments, participate in a sport activity, and more. This aggressive feeling may not go away so easily especially if you do nothing, and trying to sleep it away may or not work at times. You just got to allow yourself to express aggression in ways that is appropriate to reduce that buildup of mental tension. My last note is that aggressive needs seem to go away when experiencing fear because our want to fight is overwhelmed by the need to flee. youtu.be/Vi5Fzz85eUc
