The Arabic noun Jihad is derived from the verb Jahada,Yujahidu and Jihadan(Past, Present, and particle from verb respectively. Which means to Endeavour, to Labor, to strive to take Pains, to overwork, to exhaust. Idiomatically, however, it is a generic term used, to mean to Fight to make the word of Allah, Word Prevail. This can be done by means of word of Mouth or by sacrificing ones soul or wealth in the cause of Allah s.w.t alone. But this does not mean jihad can be practiced arbitrarily. In Islamic Sharia(the code of Law based on the Quran and Sunnah), Jihad has a very specific meaning, as well as certain constraints and prerequisites. Jihad means Struggling, Striving and Fighting in the cause of Allah Alone and for nothing else. Jihad has been decreed not for its own sake, but rather to protect and maintain the purposes and intentions of the Sharia. These Includes ones: Religion Life Honour Dignity Mind Sanity Valuables and Possessions. For Jihad to be Valid, it Must be fundamentally associated with the Sharias intentions and Purposes, and it must respect its constraints and prerequisites. Whatever kind of Jihad it may be, it must be done purely for the sake of Allah Alone, associating no partner with him. It must Also be within the framework of the Sharias intentions and purposes.
