The Avalon 50 Mile Benefit Run has come and gone. Wet, Cold, and Muddy. Did I say Muddy? Mud depth was measured in multiple inches deep on the roads. Fabrice Hardel won again in 622 or so. Slightly smaller turn out than normal - blame weather for that. However a lot of new happy faces, including 3 first timers from the Great State of Michigan. Considering what the temp was back there, this was balmy weather for them. As usual good food at the banquet and a fun award ceremony. Jeff Vinion got his 20 year Finishers Belt Buckle - thats 1000 miles on the roads and trails of Catalina. Many years ago took Jeff on his first run in the Santa Monica Mtns. Turned into a monster Ultra Runner. Young Richard got his 5 year award -- just doesnt learn. Bill Dickey was awarded the Susie Feinstein Spirit Award for 2015. Greatly deserving I must say. A great guy and a wonderful member of the ultra running community. He was a bit slow this year -- completed a 200 mile 6 day run two weeks ago. Just cant keep up now that he turned 75. Cant wait for next year. Oh - Angela. Bill and I want Goat Points and Rain Points. 9 ½ hours manning the finish line logging in runners (in the rain) deserves something! Goats finishing were Anton Smith and Young Richard Tregaskes.
