The Beatitudes Matt 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled” A. What does it mean to Hunger & Thirst? Ps 34: 10 The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing. (NKJV) Ps 34: 10 Young lions on the prowl get hungry, but God-seekers are full of God. (MSG) Ps 34: 10 Even lions go hungry for lack of food, but those who obey the Lord lack nothing good.(GNT) B. What is righteousness? How can one be righteous in an unrighteous and unjust world? Ps 42:1-3 As the deer panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. Ps 63:1 63 O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; Ps 84:2 My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God. C. Filled with what? John 7:37-39 Out of your belly shall flow rivers (wells) of living water. Isaiah 12:1-3 speaks of the wells of salvation. Only those who are saved will have such grace & endowment. Prov 10:24 The desire of the righteous are granted.
